Michael Busch

Michael Busch is the General Counsel of The Georgetown Company. Michael joined Georgetown after more than a decade at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where he advised in all aspects of real estate development, including acquisitions, financing and the formation of joint ventures. His extensive experience includes representing clients in large-scale development projects nationwide, including office buildings, hotels, resorts, shopping centers and mixed-use properties.

During his tenure at Skadden, Busch represented Georgetown in its acquisition of the West Heating Plant in Washington, D.C, which will be redeveloped into upscale residential units, the sale of 434 Broadway in New York and the purchase of One Washington Mall in Boston. Busch also held leading advisory roles in the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site, the $875 million refinancing of World Wide Plaza by Bank of America and Deutsche Bank, the redevelopment of the iconic Knickerbocker Hotel, and the development of Culture Shed, an exhibition, arts, culture and performance venue to be located within the Hudson Yards redevelopment in Manhattan.

Busch received a J.D. from St. John's University School of Law in 2004 and a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany in 2000. Busch was named as a Super Lawyers New York Metro Rising Star in 2014, 2015, and 2016. He lives in Westchester, New York with his wife, Andrea, and their three daughters, Alexis, Sabrina, and Victoria.
