Bryant Park

42nd Street at Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10036

The redesign and reclamation of Bryant Park as an “urban oasis” was envisioned and lead by a Georgetown Company principal who was also the New York Public Library board chairman and head of its real estate committee. Completed in 1993 for $20 million, with architects OLIN and Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates, the redesign utilized below-grade space to build capacity for 100 miles of library book storage. Unique funding mechanisms were devised to manage long-term programming and maintenance of the park.
