Founded in 1978, The Georgetown Company is a privately-held diversified real estate company led by CEO Adam Flatto. Headquartered in New York, Georgetown has offices in Columbus, OH; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta, GA; and Los Angeles, CA. Georgetown and its principals have developed, owned and overseen in excess of 25 million square feet of office, residential, retail and recreational properties and currently control assets with a value of over $3 billion.

Mr. Flatto is the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Georgetown Company, a privately-held real estate investment and development company based in New York City. In his 30+ years with Georgetown, Mr. Flatto has been involved with the development, acquisition and ownership of over 20 million square feet of commercial and residential real estate projects throughout the United States. These have included a wide array of projects ranging from large-scale office buildings, movie studios, retail shopping malls and sports arenas to hotels, apartment buildings, mixed-use master planned developments and others. A native New Yorker, Mr. Flatto is a trustee and board member of a number of civic and cultural institutions. Mr. Flatto is Co-Chairman of the Board of the Park Avenue Armory in NYC, a leading center for contemporary arts showcasing dance, exhibition, theater and music programs, and has helped lead its on-going $200 million landmark renovation and repositioning. He also serves as Chairman of the Housing Committee of the Board of the Robin Hood Foundation, which addresses issues of affordable housing and homelessness in NYC. Mr. Flatto is Chairman of the Board of the Center for Global Risk and Security at the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, CA, trustee of The Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, OH, and of Works and Process based at the Guggenheim Museum in NYC. He has also served on the investment committee of the Brown University Real Estate Fund, as a trustee of Enterprise Community Partners, chairman of the board of Enterprise New York, board member of the International Center of Photography and of the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. In 2014, Mr. Flatto and his firm also completed on a pro-bono basis the $225 million development of three charter high schools in Brooklyn and the Bronx for over 2,500 students. Mr. Flatto is a director of The Howard Hughes Corporation (NYSE: HHC) and a member of several real estate industry groups. Mr. Flatto was honored in 2015 by the Citizens Union of the City of New York with its Business Leadership Award. In 2020, Mr. Flatto was named to the Commercial Observer Power 100 List. Mr. Flatto received his BA magna cum laude from Brown University in 1985 with honors in Economics and received his MBA from the Wharton School (Univ. of Pennsylvania) in 1989.

Jonathan E. Schmerin is the managing principal of The Georgetown Company, a privately-held real estate investment and development company based in New York City and active in significant markets across the United States. Having joined Georgetown in June 2003, Jonathan has been able to work in a number of different capacities within the company, including investment underwriting and analysis, development and construction oversight, investment sales, capital markets/financing, leasing, and asset management. Jonathan now leads the firm’s acquisition, disposition, and capital markets efforts, including several recent transactions in New York, Columbus, Washington, DC, and Chicago, totaling over $1.1 billion. In addition to this investment focus, Jonathan spends a great deal of time leading and overseeing Georgetown’s Easton development, including the recent development of 750,000 sq. ft. of class A office space for Alliance Data Systems and Abbott Laboratories and 650,000 sq. ft. of mixed-use/lifestyle retail space, anchored by Whole Foods, Costco, REI, and Saks Off 5th, acting as principal in charge in both instances. Prior to joining Georgetown, Jonathan was a Senior Analyst in the General Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Lazard Frères & Co., an international investment bank. Focusing on advising retail, luxury goods, and consumer companies, Jonathan worked on a wide range of advisory projects for Lazard’s various clients such as LBrands, Richemont International, Danone Groupe, BASF, and Callaway Golf. Jonathan also devotes a significant amount of time to charitable and not-for-profit activities. He is currently actively involvement with his alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania, and serves on the board of the DREAM Charter School in East Harlem. Jonathan graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics magna cum laude and received a Master of Science degree in Real Estate at New York Institute with honors in 2010. He lives in Westchester, New York with his wife, Rachel and their two children, Alexandra and Benjamin.

Michael Busch is the General Counsel of The Georgetown Company, a privately-held real estate investment and development company based in New York City and active in significant markets across the United States. Michael joins Georgetown after more than a decade at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where he advised in all aspects of real estate development, including acquisitions, financing and the formation of joint ventures. His extensive experience includes representing clients in large-scale development projects nationwide, including office buildings, hotels, resorts, shopping centers and mixed-use properties. During his tenure at Skadden, Busch represented Georgetown in its acquisition of the West Heating Plant in Washington, D.C, which will be redeveloped into upscale residential units, the sale of 434 Broadway in New York and the purchase of One Washington Mall in Boston. Busch also held leading advisory roles in the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site, the $875 million refinancing of World Wide Plaza by Bank of America and Deutsche Bank, the redevelopment of the iconic Knickerbocker Hotel, and the development of Culture Shed, an exhibition, arts, culture and performance venue to be located within the Hudson Yards redevelopment in Manhattan. Busch received a J.D. from St. John's University School of Law in 2004 and a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany in 2000. Busch was named as a Super Lawyers New York Metro Rising Star in 2014, 2015, and 2016. He lives in Westchester, New York with his wife, Andrea, and their three daughters, Alexis, Sabrina, and Victoria.
